Sails for cruising sailboats
For cruising sailboats, the priority will be to choose sails that are durable, easy to maneuver and offer a good compromise between performance and comfort. A genoa or solent, combined with a horizontal or vertical cut mainsail, will be perfect. Depending on your navigation program, you may also consider addingan asymmetric spinnaker or a gennaker. The asymmetrical spinnaker has the advantage of being very easy to use.

How are a boat’s sails made?

- The design: First of all, the sail is designed according to the specifications of the sailboat and the type of sail desired, whether it is a headsail, a mainsail or a specific sail like an asymmetrical spinnaker.

- The assembly: The cut panels are then assembled using special seams adapted to the constraints of the sails. - The Triradial cut: here, the widths start from the tack points to meet, more or less, at a central point. A triradial sail is a sailboat sail manufactured with a radial cutting method that uses three sets of fabric panels cut into the shape of triangles to optimize the shape and performance of the sail. This type of sewing requires more work and is also more expensive.
Sail materials and finishes
