THE Amel 50, drawn by Olivier RacoupeauThe Amel 50 was voted Boat of the Year in the Luxury Cruiser category in 2018. While large-scale shipyards like Bénéteau, Hanse, and Jeanneau are presenting increasingly larger sailboats, the Amel shipyard is offering the opposite. Amel 50, a versatile sailboat

With this 15-meter sailboat, the La Rochelle shipyard is expanding its range and the AMEL concept to new sailboat owners with varied sailing plans. The Amel 50 will be a versatile sailboat capable of taking its crew on voyages across all the world’s oceans as well as short cruises of a few days. With this model, the shipyard further enhances the possibilities of use and opens up new perspectives at sea.

Ease of maneuvering remains a top priority for the construction site. Its philosophy is to offer… high-end privately owned sailboats capable of being safely operated with a small crew, or even single-handed. Super Maramu being one of his best-sellers.

Amel is more successful than her fathers

Amel 50 aside

While not aiming to compete with high-performance sailboats, the AMEL 50 nevertheless promises a thrilling sailing experience. This ambition is new for the shipyard. The choice of a straight and powerful bow is a departure from the shipyard’s usual practices. While lengthening the waterline to improve performance, it simultaneously adds volume to the forward section of the boat. The wide, flat stern, with a beam extending to the rear, provides excellent stability.
The shape increases comfort at sea. This feature led to the choice of twin rudders, a new feature for AMEL, which allows the boat to maintain excellent maneuverability under sail.

Still as much comfort

The new AMEL will accommodate six people thanks to two large cabins, each with a double bed, and one cabin with two bunk beds. There is ample storage space, both under the beds and benches, not to mention the wardrobes and lockers. The chart table is located to the left of the companionway and provides direct access to the entire saloon.
