The Amel shipyard announces the arrival of its future Amel 60, during the Cannes Yachting Festival.
The Amel shipyard took advantage of the Düsseldorf trade fair to present, in model form, her new Amel 60A cruising sailboat in the purest tradition of the French shipyard. This new 60-footer arrives two years after the Amel 50, another sailboat from the shipyard.
At first glance, you can recognize the Amel touch. The Amel 60 will be offered with a central cockpit and a rigid soft top.The boat was designed by the Berret-Racoupeau firm and will be presented in September in Cannes.
A sailboat for traveling
The Amel 60 should retain the entire philosophy of the shipyardThis monohull is designed for cruising as a couple, with family, or with friends. This means that on deck, the boat will be easy to handle with a small crew. Maneuvering will be facilitated with electric winches, furling sails, and other features typical of Amel. Note, however, the rigging. The Amel 60 will be rigged as a sloopA significant change from the history of the Amel construction site, and at Super Maramu. For example, it will consist of a new carbon mast, which increases its performance and comfort at sea.
Inside, judging from the plans and drawings, we find once again what has made the Amel shipyard so successful. We should be looking at an owner’s sailboat, with three cabins, including the owner’s cabin aft. All three cabins will have their own bathroom.
The galley, offset to the side of the passageway, frees up a very attractive living space in the saloon. A true living area for long-distance cruising. All that remains is to wait and see this direct competitor to others 18-meter sailboats like the Oceanis Yacht 62, the CNB 66 or the Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 58.
