The Barcelona International Boat Show, scheduled for October 8-12 at Port Vell, introduces a new configuration that includes for the first time the Barcelona dock for large-length vessels. This strategy aims to attract international buyers and reposition the event as a leading commercial platform in southern Europe, amid a contracting Spanish nautical market.
New format with large vessels
The 2025 edition of the Barcelona Boat Show incorporates significant changes in its physical and commercial structure. The event, organized by Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), adds the Barcelona dock to its traditional facilities.
Expansion of exhibition spaces
• New Barcelona dock: Specifically enabled for vessels over 20 meters in length • Traditional spaces: Maintenance of Port Vell, La Fusta, España docks and part of Marina Port Vell • Connectivity: Shuttle service between Barcelona and España docks to facilitate access • New village: 2,500 m² space at La Fusta dock for social and business contacts
Specialized gastronomic offer
The gastronomic experience will be led by chef Rafa Zafra, in collaboration with Le Chef Catering. The menu includes:
• Tasting menu: Six dishes with sea ingredients for 150 euros per person • Casual offer: Tapas and dishes from 5.80 euros • Open bar: Included in the tasting menu

Context of the Spanish nautical market
The Barcelona Boat Show 2025 takes place in a context of contraction in the Spanish nautical market. Official data shows a downward trend in recreational vessel registrations.
Evolution of registrations
• First half 2024: 2,792 registrations, 8% less than in 2023 • January 2025: 193 registrations compared to 212 in the same month of 2024 • First quarter 2025: 1,352 registrations, 11.7% less than the same period last year
Segmentation by length
According to sector data, the contraction does not equally affect all segments:
• Vessels up to 6 meters: Greatest decline recorded • Vessels 8-12 meters: Stability with slight growth • Large-length vessels: Relative maintenance of demand
Repositioning strategy
The event is part of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, which seeks to elevate the show’s level as a commercial platform for southern Europe.
Objectives of the new model
• Target audience: National and international buyers with greater purchasing power • Qualified offer: More than 180 exhibitors and 600 boats • Enhanced experience: Complementary activities and high-end services • Positioning: Nautical reference in the Mediterranean
Institutional statements
Luis Conde, event president, has highlighted that “this edition is just the beginning of a change process for the future Barcelona Boat Show.” Meanwhile, Josep Antoni Llopart, show director, has emphasized that the goal is “to become the best sailing commercial platform in southern Europe.”
Activities program
The show will include an activities program coordinated by the Port of Barcelona, focused on:
• Blue economy: Sustainable development of the maritime sector • Digitalization: New technologies applied to the nautical sector • Sustainability: More efficient and environmentally friendly vessels • Innovation: Latest developments in sailboats, catamarans and yachts
Sector prospects
Jordi Carrasco, ANEN’s general director, has positively valued the initiative: “The Barcelona Boat Show is one of the sector’s drivers in our country. For nautical companies it represents an opportunity to activate sales, generate business and establish strategic commercial relationships.”
The event seeks to consolidate itself as a reference showcase for Spanish and Mediterranean recreational boating, taking advantage of the recovery of nautical tourism and the growing interest in large-length vessels in the luxury segment.
The Barcelona International Boat Show 2025 will be held from October 8-12 at Port Vell in Barcelona, with free admission for sector professionals upon accreditation.
