J Composites presented its new cruiser-racer, the J/121, at the Dusseldorf boat show. A sailboat for shorthanded sailors who enjoy solo or short-handed sailing.
J Composites was present at the Dusseldorf International Boat Show. This was the opportunity for the shipyard to present its new sailboat, the J/121. This large J112, 12 meters long, was designed by Alan Johnstone. It is part of the brand’s One Design Sport range. The J/121 was designed for solo or short-handed sailing, with performance in mind for semi-offshore or coastal racing.
It is true that finding and keeping a regular crew can sometimes be complicated, especially in certain regions. So a racing sailboat designed for short-handed crews is a good idea. This new JBoat is equipped with an L-shaped bulb keel and is rigged as a fractional sloop.
J/121, between loyalty to the brand and innovations
For the first time, a JBoats sailboat will benefit from ballasts. This is a major innovation for the shipyard. Otherwise, J presents a sailboat faithful to its image, with all the characteristics of boats designed by the Johnstone family: sleek lines, solidity, reliability, and interior comfort for the pleasure of fast sailing.
« It’s a big J/111 with some major evolutions, including a slightly wider beam than usual for J to integrate ballasts and dual wheels. It also features a removable forestay mounted on a hook, as in Class 40 or IMOCA boats. So far, it has had a good start in Europe with 4 boats sold in Great Britain, 1 in Germany, 1 in Spain, and 1 in Sweden. It is increasingly difficult to assemble a crew, so it makes sense for J to consistently offer a 40-foot sailboat adapted for two to three sailors and for offshore sailing » declares Didier Le Moal, CEO of J Composites.
