In 1961, in Forlì, Italy, Sipla began its operations by producing Flying Junior dinghies in fiberglassThis was a major innovation for its time. In 1971, Sipla launched the Comet series with the Comet 910Designed in collaboration with designers Van de Stadt and Finot, this model was a resounding success, with over 1,000 units produced over a 15-year period. Building on this success, the company adopted the name Comar S.p.A. and continued to expand its range of high-performance and comfortable sailboats.
Key moments in the history of the construction site
During the 1980s, Comar collaborates with renowned naval architects such as Jean-Marie Finot, Doug Peterson and Andrea VallicelliThis period saw the birth of iconic models such as the Comet 801, 11, 13, and 14, characterized by innovative solutions in both performance and interior design. In 1989, the shipyard reached an annual production of 145 boats and employed 160 people, thus consolidating its leading position in Italy.
The 2000s marked a turning point with the launch of the Comet 51S in 2001, the result of a collaboration with Studio Vallicelli and Alessandro Nazareth. This popular model gave rise to a complete range, from the 35S to the 125RS, comprising 11 models.
