The nautical industry takes a new step forward with the creation of the first functional 6-meter monolithic catamaran, entirely 3D-printed. This achievement is the result of a collaboration between V2 Group, a Spanish company specializing in naval design and engineering, and Caracol AM, an Italian leader in large-format 3D printing technologies. A solution that could already be applied to certain motorboats.
A Major Innovation in Shipbuilding
The catamaran, designed for open-water navigation, was manufactured using robotic 3D printing technology. This approach enables the production of a monolithic structure, thereby reducing the number of joints and potential weak points. The main objective of this project is to demonstrate the feasibility of industrialized and scalable boat production while complying with the strict standards of the naval industry.
